So many of you have asked when you’ll get to see Sancho’s story–and here it is. Sancho is the romantic lead in Completely Smitten. I’ve just published an excerpt, with ordering information, here on the website. Enjoy!
Sourcebooks will reissue Utterly Charming in October. Utterly Charming won RT Book Review’s Choice Award when it first came out. The new cover is spectacular, I think.
And if you want to read the short story that started it all, “The Strangeness of the Day,” you can find it under my real name, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, as an e-story on Kindle, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, and in other e-bookstores. I wrote the story, then my husband said, “This should be a novel.” I took his advice–and Kristine Grayson was born.
Here’s the short blurb on “The Strangeness of the Day.” I’ll post Utterly Charming’s blurb as soon as I have it.
Nora Barr’s struggling law practice gets a boost when she meets a tall, dark, and handsome stranger who has a snake wrapped around his arm and a short sidekick with a mean mouth. The stranger claims he’s got custody of Sleeping Beauty, and he needs Nora’s help to protect her. Against her better judgment, Nora helps—and her life changes forever.
WMG Publishing has just released Completely Smitten as an e-book. You can download the Kindle version, the Barnes & Noble version, or a version on Smashwords right now. It’ll take a week or so to hit the other e-book stores.
A trade paper edition will appear in the spring.
Next, you’ll find the book’s description, followed by a link to an excerpt.
THE SIDEKICK’S JOURNEY
Darius has been a sidekick forever. Always the best friend, never the hero. Known throughout the ages by a variety of names from Merlin to Sancho Panza, Puck to Andvari, Darius has kept his real identity secret.
Three thousand years ago, he disrespected true love. So, as punishment, the Fates took away his good looks and forced him to unite 100 soul mates before he got his looks back. He just united his 98th and 99th couple. He has one left when he meets Ariel Summers.
Ariel Summers, a world-famous triathelete, is hiking the Idaho Wilderness to come to terms with a career-ending injury. She falls off a cliff, but somehow manages to stop on a ledge halfway down. But she needs help, and a handsome man provides it—using magic. She meets Darius in his true form, which he can revert to once a year—and falls in love with him.
Or does she? Because Darius’s lifelong enemy, Cupid, lurks in the woods, and he’s shot an arrow at Ariel. Did it hit? And does it matter? Because Darius knows Ariel is part of the final couple he must unite. He can’t bear to unite her with anyone else. But Darius doesn’t deserve true love. So he must break Cupid’s spell, find Ariel’s soul mate, and unite them. Even though he doesn’t want to.
WMG Publishing has bought my available backlist, including two novels, and will be publishing them in 2011. WMG will also publish my short stories and a short story collection. Two stories are available now as e-books.

“Geeks Bearing Gifts”
Bethanne Dupree runs a computer dating service and pretends she doesn’t need it too. She manages to separate her personal life from her business life until Ray Greco comes to the office of the dating service to make a video. The handsome Greco distracts her staff, and his video crashes her server. In fact, he crashes a lot of things. Including Bethanne.
“The spellbinding Grayson…gives readers their money’s worth by taking the familiar and turning it on its ear, with humor and charm.” —RT Book Reviews
